Katie Burgmeier

Principal & 4th Grade Teacher

Katie grew up in northern Minnesota with her parents and older brother. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a summer church camp in middle school. During Katie’s adolescence and through her adult years, she had a hard time fitting in and finding friends who valued her for who God made her to be. She fought hard against the pressures of who the world thought she should be. This battle was not easy and sin crept in certain areas of her life. When Katie was 36, she finally was able to learn that her value comes through Christ and Christ only:

"Through many circumstances in my life, God was always there and brought beauty through so much pain. For some reason, though, I yearned to be valued by people of this world, not my Heavenly Father. Through this, I created a void between God and I; and I became bitter. God’s grace and mercy have allowed me to see that everything I do is for and with Christ. The hole in my soul has been restored by giving my heart issue to the Lord and allowing Christ to be the center of my entire life, where my value comes from. My life verse is Psalm 139:17-18: 'How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you.'"

Katie graduated from Benedictine University with her elementary education degree (B.S. with reading endorsement), and the University of West Alabama (M.S. in school counseling). Katie has been an educator since 2004. She has taught several grade levels along with being a school counselor for 10 years. Katie has a deep passion for loving, teaching, and guiding children. God has been calling her for some time to step away from the public school system and He faithfully led her to Coram Deo Academy in 2023.

Katie and her husband, Chris, have been married since 2004. They have three children who keep them very busy with sports, family time, and serving together. They have been members of Coram Deo since 2016. She enjoys walking, reading, gardening, small group, and spending time with her family.

Katie is honored and humbled to be working for Coram Deo Academy and is excited to be able to bring her passion for children and Christ together in education: "I cannot wait to see God’s work in growing Coram Deo Academy!"

Katie currently serves as the Principal and 4th Grade Teacher at Coram Deo Academy.
