Who We Are

To live 'Coram Deo' is to live fully in the presence of God, under the authority of God, for the glory of God.

Our Name

Coram Deo ("core-um day-oh") is a Latin phrase meaning "in the presence of God." As a Bible-believing, Bible-preaching church—and as followers of Christ—we live our lives Coram Deo: in the presence of God, under the authority of God, for the glory of God. Hear more about our name in this brief video from Pastor Rob:

Our Mission

To glorify God through the fulfillment of The Great Commission (Matthew 28:19–20) in the spirit of The Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37–39).

THE GREAT COMMISSION
Matthew 28:19a

"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations..."

THE GREAT COMMANDMENT
Matthew 22:37b, 39b

"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart...[And] you shall love your neighbor as yourself."

Our Core Values

We strive towards our mission according to the following Core Values—characteristics and pursuits that express our heart and shape our ministries.

Bold Preaching

Expository and Applicational
2 Timothy 4:1–5

Believing that the Bible is God's Word, we proclaim it in context and apply it to our lives, depending on the Holy Spirit to work.

"Preach the Word...in season and out."
– 2 Timothy 4:2

Passionate Worship

In Spirit and Truth
John 4:23–24

Believing that Jesus deserves our adoration, we join our hearts and live our lives to exalt His name.

"God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."
– John 4:24

Fervent Prayer

Dependent and Expectant
Ephesians 6:18

Believing that God hears and acts, we seek His will and ask for grace to meet our needs and impact the world.

"[Pray] at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication."
– Ephesians 6:18

Courageous Evangelism

In Word and Deed
Acts 4:18–21

Believing that people are lost and Jesus saves, we share the Gospel and our lives boldly and urgently.

"We cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard."
– Acts 4:20

Intentional Discipleship

Personal and in Community
Ephesians 4:11–16

Believing in God's design for ministry and maturity, we teach the Scriptures and equip the saints to grow and do the same.

"Equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ."
– Ephesians 4:12

Strategic Church Planting

Together and Around the World
Romans 15:18–21

Believing in the promise of Jesus to build His church, we raise up and send out pastors to plant new churches, both locally and globally.

"I make it my ambition to preach the Gospel, not where Christ has already been named...[that] those who have never been told of Him will see, and those who have never heard will understand."
– Romans 15:20–21

Our Discipleship Practices

We encourage intentional discipleship through which believers in Jesus Christ are actively growing in their walk with the Lord and purposefully participating in the community of the local church. We believe these four Discipleship Practices to be foundational to following Christ as part of the body of Christ.

Our Story

In the summer of 2004, Senior Pastor Rob Willey, together with his wife, Becky, and their family, followed the Lord’s calling to move to Davenport, Iowa for the purpose of planting a church. Aware of only two families in the area who were interested, they began meeting and talking with others to form a Launch Team. In early September, 20 people came together for the first time to worship, pray, and seek God’s direction. By late fall, the Launch Team had grown to 50 adults.

On November 14, 2004, our first services were held at Bettendorf High School with over 400 people in attendance! In 2005, as our congregation continued to grow each Sunday, we began the search for a permanent location for our church.

Through much prayer and fasting, in February 2006, God led our elders to purchase the pre-existing building that is now our home. In just six weeks, 150 families gave $1.6 million, and the renovation began. Less than a year later, on March 18, 2007, and with a congregation of over 1,000 people, the first services were held in our new building.

Over the years, God has proven faithful and has blessed our church tremendously. We have witnessed countless lives changed through decisions made for Christ; hundreds of believers stepping out in faith in the waters of baptism; faithful servants following God’s call into both the local and global mission field; devoted men being trained up and sent out to lead and plant churches around the county; and men, women, and children growing in community through their love for Jesus and their discipleship to one another.

Today, by God’s grace, we continue to glorify God through the fulfillment of The Great Commission (Matthew 18:19–20) in the spirit of The Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37–39)—and we can’t wait to see what He has in store for us next!

We Can't Wait to Worship with You!

We'd love for you to join us for one of our Sunday worship services! We trust you will sense our excitement and joy, and more importantly, that you will be encouraged and challenged as we worship Christ and open the Bible together.
