Pastoral Residency Program

The Purpose of the Coram Deo Pastoral Residency Program:

To glorify God by preparing, equipping, and empowering the future leaders of the church to serve the church through full-time vocational ministry

Who We Are

The Pastoral Residency at Coram Deo Bible Church is a 2–3 year, full-time ministry training program. The residency is a 40+ hour paid position on the pastoral staff of CDBC. The program is designed to provide ministry exposure within the context of the local church. All residents work closely with the Residency Pastor to grow in their ability to minister the Gospel, shepherd the people of God, and teach the Scriptures.

About the Pastoral Residency Program

Explore the drop-downs below to learn more about our Pastoral Residency Program.

Why a Residency Program?
  • We see in the world a lack of well-trained, young Christians for the work of ministry.
  • The local church ought to be the primary means by which God's people increase God's Kingdom.
  • The Scriptures exhort us to build up, develop, and prepare the next generation for the work of ministry.
Goals of the Residency Program
  • To follow the New Testament model of confirming the aspiration of a young Christian into the work of ministry (Acts 16; 1 Timothy 1:18).
  • To build up pastors and ministry leaders who will proclaim God's Word with authority and conviction, both formally and informally, and release them to Kingdom building (2 Timothy 2:2).
  • To bless the Church with elder-qualified pastors and leaders (Ephesians 4; 1 Timothy 3).
Methods of the Residency Program
  • Paid seminary classes (MBTS or SBTS)
  • Theological training (Leader Trek, pastoral roundtables, ordination)
  • Preaching labs and practicums (Preaching Lab, preaching to peers practicum, teaching opportunities)
  • Mentoring and discipleship (pastoral supervision and connection)
  • Hands-on ministry experience (ministry rotations and internships)
